Abstract
There are many problems faced by teacher in teaching reading process. Especially in choosing strategy. Without suitable strategy, teaching of reading process will not successfull as we want. Everyone is a Teacher Here is strategy active learning that holds each student to accountable for learning the material. This strategy suitable to get class participation for group or individual. The project is about a study of the effectiveness of Everyone is a Teacher Here in improving students’ reading skill at second grade of MTS Sunan Ampel Kepung Kediri in the academic year 2012/2013. The objective of this study is to know whether teaching Reading using Every is a Teacher Here at second grade of MTS Sunan Ampel Kepung Kediri is effective or not. In order to achieve the objective of the study. The population of this study is second grade of MTS Sunan Ampel Kepung Kediri in academic year of 2012/2013. The sampling process was no randomized sampling. There were 3 classes in the second grade of MTS Sunan Ampel Kepung Kediri they were class VIIIA, VIIIB and VIIIC. The researcher took VIIIB as experimental group and VIIIA as control group. Class B consisted of 34 students and class A consisted of 33 students. The instruments used for measuring achievement was a test. The researcher administrated two kinds of test. They were pre-test and post-test. Both test were in written form. And the score of the test were calculated by using ANCOVA trough SPSS 16.00. Before the instrument was used, it had been tried out first in order to find out the validity, reliability, level of difficulties and discrimination items of reading being test. The researcher then selected the items before they were used as instrument of this research. The result of the statistical computation of ANCOVA reveals that significant at (p) .000 < 0.05 level. Since the significant value was smaller than than 0.05, statically there was enough evidence to reject the H0, then the H1 was received. It means that the sudents who were taught by using Everyone is a Teacher Here had significanly better skill on reading than the students who were not taught by using Everyone is a Teacher Here. Therefore, the hypothesis that “Everyone is a Teacher Here, is effective to improve reading skill at second grade student of MTS Sunan Ampel Kepung Kediri” is accepted. Based on the result of the test, the researcher conclude that is using Everyone is a Teacher Here effective to improve the second grade students’ reading skill of MTS Sunan Ampel Kepung Kediri is effective. The researcher would like to suggest the teacher to use this technique as alternative in improving students’ reading skills.
