The Effect of Partner Reading Strategy in Teaching Reading Comprehension of Recount Text, English Department, Faculty of Tarbiyah, State Islamic Institute of Kediri (IAIN Kediri). Advisor: (1) Dr.Sri Wahyuni,M.Pd. (2) Annisa Aulia Saharni,M.Pd. Key Words: Partner Reading Strategy, Reading Aloud Strategy, Reading Comprehension Many students at MTsN 6 Nganjuk get difficulties in reading comprehension in the text, especially students in eighth grade, because they has bad reading habit and the teacher still uses conventional teaching strategy to teach reading comprehension. Teaching reading comprehension can be taught by using Partner Reading Strategy which is considered appropriate to increase the students reading comprehension. The objective of this research is to find out whether there is any significant difference on reading comprehension between the students who are taught by using partner reading strategy and who are taught by reading aloud strategy in teaching reading comprehension at the Eighth Grade of MTsN 6 Nganjuk. This research used quasi-experimental research design. The study was conducted at MTsN 6 Nganjuk, grade VIII2 and grade VIII8 were used as research samples based on considerations given by the school. The sample of VIII8 as a experimental group consist of 35 students and the sample of VIII2 as control group consist of 36 students. The research instrument use ANCOVA in SPPS to test the hypothesis. The result showed, that mean score of pre-test experimental group was 46.63 and the control group was 60.42. In the post-test, the mean score of experimental group was 85.29 and the control group was 80.14. Hypothesis alternative was accepted because the group significant value was 0.000 <0.05. It can be concluded that there is significant difference between the students taught by using Partner Reading Strategy and those taught by using Reading Aloud Strategy on their reading comprehension. In addition, the researcher found that using Partner Reading Strategy can save time and students were motivated to read of comprehension.
