Keywords: Focus Group Discussion, Implementation, Speaking skill. Focus group discussion is a systematic process of collecting data and information on very specific issues through group discussions. The implementation of focus group discussions also focuses on improving students' speaking skills during discussion. This study aims to determine how the implementation of focus group discussions improves students' speaking skills and also the problems faced during the implementation of focus group discussion. The research method used by the researcher is a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection techniques in this study used triangulation consisting of observation, interviews, and documentation. The participants of this study consisted of one English teacher and thirty students as data sources. The researcher analyzed the data using data reduction, data display and triangulation. From the results of the research found, the implementation of the focus group discussion had three sessions, namely opening, exploration, and closing. Then, during the implementation of the focus group discussion, students faced various problems. Some of the problems faced by students such as lack of vocabulary, lack of confidence, grammar problems, pronunciation, and nervousness in conveying ideas. In overcoming problems like the one above, one of them is by using google translate to find out new vocabulary and how to pronounce it.
