Abstract

The online learning in the midst of Covid-19 has exposed students to new way of teaching learning process. As reported by studies about online learning there are various advantages and disadvantages of online learning. As the most directly impacted party, students’ perceptions on the problems they encountered during the online learning need to be taken into account for future improvement. From the phenomenon the researcher choose to conduct this research. The purpose of this research is to know about problems that students face in online learning during pandemic Covid-19. where the main aims problem in this research are, What problems do students face during online learning? How did the students adjust themselves in online learning? What problems should be evaluated during online learning?. This research uses quantitative descriptive with survey design, the data were collected through online survey via google form. The survey instrumet used was questionnaire by using open-ended and close-ended questionnaire. The research subject is students of Department of English Language Education Faculty of Education And Teacher Training at State Islamic Institute of Kediri determined by random sampling. There were 66 respondents who involved and have filled in the data up to the predetermined time limit. The analysis data technique was statistically by counting percentage in SPSS Version 21 in menu anlyze – descriptive statistics - frequencies. The result of this research showed that the problems faced by the students are very diverse or even complex, namely, internet connection, lack of focus (less focus), internet quota, communication, media, course work (assignments given by lecturers during online learning). Not many students were able to adjust themselves in online learning, but there were also students who are able to adjust themselves in online learning by following and obbeying the rules of the lecturer, always attending the class. Whatsapp group was students’ favourite media. The problems that need to be evaluated to improve online learning, included those related to learning media, learning processes, face-to-face, connection and quota assistance.
