Abstract
Duolingo Application is an application that helps students to learn a language easily and quickly in improving vocabulary mastery. Right now, students learned online applications, so this tool is used by the students. This research purposes of investigating students’ perception of the use of the feature of Duolingo application in vocabulary mastery. This research used a survey research design by using questionnaires and interviews as the instrument to collect the data. The questionnaire share with 76 students of eighth-grade students of MTsN 8 Kediri. The result of the questionnaire was calculated by using Microsoft excel. In the result of findings, the perception was divided into 3 categories: knowledge, attitude, and behavior. The highest score of knowledge in vocabulary was in statement number 2; that Using the Duolingo application with the picture guess quiz feature can help students in English vocabulary mastery with a mean score of 4.46. Attitude category with mean score 4.25 from number 11; during online learning, the student used the Duolingo application at home to improve their new English vocabulary. Meanwhile, the behavior category got a mean score of 4.18; the student asked their friends to use the Duolingo application to enriched English vocabulary. The result of all highest scores showed students “strongly agree” and was “very positive” categories explained that Duolingo Application as the tools useful to students improve vocabulary and help them because this application also gave the auto-correct answer.
