The speaking skill is the important part of English subject. But there are some people who are not aware and ignore speaking part in the English. This research was conducted at SMAN 2 Kediri. Students at SMAN 2 Kediri had problem with speaking English. The students are too shy to speak in front of the class. The students’ interest was still low. One of the methods to increase student’s interest in speaking is through Project Based learning in drama. It has been suggested as a way to bridge the perceived gap between theory and practice and augment the opportunities to observe and interact in ‘real’ classrooms. In this research, researcher used project based learning in drama to the first grader of SMAN 2 Kediri to enhance speaking ability. Here the researcher used classroom action research to implement the Project based learning. This classroom action research used collaborative research approach. The collaborator of this research is the English teacher in class X MIA 3. This action research consists of the cycle. There are four steps in a cycle, such as planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. There were two meetings in a cycle to approach project based learning in drama. The criterion of success in this research is 100% of students can reach 75 point in speaking test. There are 32 students of class X MIA 3. In the Pre-cycle, there were 13 students who did not pass the speaking test. The percentage of students’ who did not pass speaking test was 42%. After applying the project in drama, 100% of the students reached the criteria of minimum. The average of students’ score in pre-cycle was 73,99 and then became 83,07. The improvement of students’ score average is 9,08 point. The students’ involvement also increased in every meeting. In the pre-cycle the percentage of students’ involvement were 72% and then increased becoming 96% in the last meeting.
