Reading ability is a cognitive ability which a person is able to use when interacting with texts. The objective of this reasearch was to know the correlation between English students’ rading interest in scientific articles and their reading ability. This research was conducted at the third semester students of English Department in IAIN Kediri in the academic year 2021/2022. The sample of research was class C students, 32 students. This class was chosen because it was adapted to the learning material being taught. The design of the study was a correlational study. Technique of data collection was questionnaire and test. There were 20 questionnaire used to determine the students’ reading interest, and 20 items of test were used to determine their reading ability. The result of the data analysis showed that the correlation coefficient between reading interest (x) and reading ability (y) was (r) –0,230, which less than r table (-0,203 < 0,349). The result of significance value indicated 0,206, it means significant value greather than 0,05 (0,206 > 0,05), so it can be concluded that there was negative low correlation between the two variables. From this data, the conclusion of this study was students who have a high reading interest in scientific articles do not necessarily have a high reading value.
