This research investigates the effectiveness of the Busuu application in improving the vocabulary mastery of seventh-grade students at MTsN 8 Kediri. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test conducted on two groups: an experimental class that used the Busuu application and a control class that received conventional textbook-based instruction. A total of 60 students were involved, divided equally into two classes. Data were collected through vocabulary tests consisting of multiple-choice questions covering the theme of daily activities. The findings revealed that the students in the experimental class showed a higher mean score in the post-test (73.67) compared to the control class (66.67). The Mann-Whitney U test indicated a significant difference in vocabulary mastery between the two groups with a p-value of 0.009 (p < 0.05), confirming the effectiveness of the Busuu application in enhancing students’ vocabulary skills. The results suggest that the use of the Busuu application as a digital learning tool can enhance students' vocabulary acquisition, encourage independent learning, and foster greater engagement. This research contributes to the development of innovative language learning strategies through mobile-assisted language learning.
