Abstract

In the world of education, the curriculum is a guideline for education. Curriculum changes often occur, and the Merdeka Curriculum is one of the curriculum changes that has recently taken place in Indonesia. In this curriculum change, the author wants to know how prepared English teachers are for the Merdeka Curriculum. How they understand and implement the Merdeka Curriculum.In this study, the researcher used a qualitative approach. The subjects were three English teachers at Mtsn 7 Kediri. The subjects were selected using purposive sampling. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing.The results show that in understanding the Merdeka Curriculum, (1) Teachers strive to explain the concepts and objectives of the independent curriculum; (2) Teachers understand the content and components of the teaching modules; (3) In the implementation stage of the learning process, teachers have followed the curriculum guidelines, but differentiation has not yet been applied; (4) Teachers have applied diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments in their teaching; (5) The facilities provided by the school are capable of supporting the Merdeka Curriculum. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that English teachers at MTsN 7 Kediri have a good understanding of the Merdeka Curriculum in terms of knowledge, but its implementation in differentiated learning has not been carried out optimally.
