Abstract
The objective of this study is to know the students ability before getting treatment, and after getting treatment then whether the students who were taught by using Engpoly have better achievement than the students who were taught by using Power point in conventional mode. This research was aimed to identify the effectiveness of Engpoly in the improving grammar of the students at MTs. Sunan Gunung Jati Gurah, Kediri. This research focused on simple present tense by using Engpoly. This research is quantitative research which used quasi experimental design. The participants of this study were class VIII A as experimental group which used Engpoly as the media to teach grammar, and class VIII B as control group which used power point in conventional teaching. The total of participants of this research is 34 participants which are taken by purposive sampling. The data was obtained through pre-test and post-test to know the student’s ability before and after getting treatment. The data was counted using SPSS. ANCOVA test results showed that the distribution of data from the pre-test and post-test both experimental and control groups were normally distributed with pre-test values p (0.093)> α (0.05) for the experimental group and p (0.197)> α (0.05) for the control group. The norm distribution has shown from the post-test results with p (0.259)> α (0.05) for the experimental group and p (0.418)> α (0.05) for the control group.The Lavene test results showed significant data with p (0.084)> α (0.05) which showed homogeneous data. Nevertheless, the third test is the homogeneity test of the slope regression can not be fulfilled because the results of p (0.018) <α (0.05) which means there is a relationship between covariates with independent variables.The final assumption is the fulfillment of a linear test of covariate relations with the dependent variable. In this test, the results show that p (0.000) <α (0.05) it means that there is a significant relationship between the covariate and the dependent variable so this fourth assumption has been fulfilled because the linear test result is lower than (0.05), then H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. It means the media Engpoly is effective to use in teaching grammar at the eighth grade level.
