Abstract

M.Hijratul M. M. Using Elsa Speak Application To Improve Students’ Pronunciation Mastery At SMAN 8 Kediri. Education Department, Faculty of Tarbiyah, State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Kediri. Keyword : Pronunciation, Elsa Speak Pronunciation is a science that studies techniques or procedures for pronouncing English vocabulary, so it is very important to pronounce vocabulary well and correctly when communicating. Otherwise other people will be confused about what you mean, which will ultimately result in a misunderstanding. In this way, the researcher conducts this research with the aim of improving pronunciation mastery of the XI grade students at SMAN 8 Kediri. The design of this research was Class Action Research (CAR) that used 1 class in SMAN 8 Kediri which was XI-5 as Subject. This method used final assessment to assess students’ pronunciation mastery before and after using Elsa Speak Application as Teaching Media. The total sample is 36 students from 11th grade of SMAN 8 Kediri. The data in this study used 2 cycles and the score was used to reveal achievement. The result of this study showed that in cycle I. Only 50% of students who passed the criteria of success (score 75), which has to be 70% of students passed. Therefore, this cycle still did not meet the target that should have been achieved. Then, the researcher must conduct cycle II. In this Cycle, from all students, 73% passed the criteria of success (score 75) then the researcher did not need to do cycle III. It can be concluded that Elsa Speak application can have impact on the students’ pronunciation mastery.
