Abstract
Umam, Misbachul, Advisors: (1) Dr. Mukhammad Abdullah, M.Ag. (2) Dra. Nurul Ain M.Pd. "Using Realia to Improve the Vocabulary of the First Year Students of MTs Miftahul Huda Silir-Wates-Kediri", Thesis, Tarbiyah, English Department, The State College for Islamic Studies of Kediri, 2015. Keywords: Improving, Realia, Vocabulary. Vocabulary mastery is very important in learning English. One of the methods to improve the students' vocabulary is using realia. It is a list of English vocabulary with pictures which related to the topic or the materials in the teaching and learning process. The researcher and the English teacher diagnosed that the main problem why the students of the first year students of MTs Miftahul Huda Silir-Wates-Kediri are still difficult in learning English, that is because the students vocabulary mastery is still weak. So, based on this problem, the researcher wants to improve the students' vocabulary mastery using realia. The research design of this research is classroom action research (CAR). In this research, the researcher has to do two cycles in order to successful to getting the targetted score 75. Every cycle consists of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. Moreover, to collecting the data, the researcher uses observation checklist and vocabulary test. The result of this classroom research shows that realia is effective to improve the students' vocabulary mastery of the first year students of MTs Miftahul Huda Silir-Wates-Kediri. This is shown by 83% from 15 students passed at the evaluation test in the second cycle.
