Abstract
Aryani, Widya Desi, 2015. An Analysis on Grammatical Interferences on Students Descriptive Writing at the Seventh Grade of MTsN Kunir Wonodadi Blitar, English Department Faculty of Education, State College for Islamic Studies (STAIN) Kediri. Advisors: (1) Burhanuddin Syaifullah, M. Ed., (2) Chothibul Umam. M. Pd. Key words: grammatical interference, English writing This study discusses about grammatical interferences. It is one of bilingualism aspects that occurs on the level of structure and cultural sense whether written and oral, especially when somebody is learning his or her second language. In this case are Junior High School students who are asked to construct English writing as the unit of analysis of this study. It is chosen because students still make mistakes when they write English. They often use Indonesian patterns in writing. The aim of this research is to know the type of grammatical interference. This research analyzes the grammatical interference that is experienced by the seventh grade student class 7.8 of MTsN Kunir Wonodadi Blitar in their descriptive text. The method of this research is descriptive qualitative research. The researcher gets the data by asking the students to make a descriptive text. The researcher analyzes the result of descriptive text by using Weinreich's theory and classifies into several categories. As the result of the research, the finding shows that many sentences which have been written by the students are not grammatically correct. There are two types of grammatical interferences found; interference related to grammatical relations in particular word order and interference related to functions or meaning of grammatical forms. In other words, their sentences are interfered by their mother tongue or their source language, namely Indonesian. The interferences are caused by the structural factors, such as interference using agreement and interference in the syntactic patterns.
