Abstract
Threads is a text-based social media application. The platform was created by Meta and it is made specifically for Instagram users. Threads provides features such as posting text, commenting and sharing opinions directly. Threads can be used as a digital learning media, especially in writing. In practice, students can express their opinions and ideas, provide arguments, compose example texts, and provide feedback. This application can make students learn collaboratively with easy and interactive access. Moreover, this research aimed to enhance students’ writing skill in Exposition text in SILC (Skapsa International Language Class) at SMK PGRI 1 Kediri by using Threads application. This research used Classroom Action Research (CAR) method to answer the research question. The subjects in this study were 18 intermediate students from SILC. This research was conducted with two cycles and each cycle consisted of three meetings. As for data collection, researcher used observation and writing tests. This research can be said to be successful if it exceeds the success criteria including: 1) the average student writing score is above 75. 2) the percentage of students who scored above the Minimum Competency Standards (KKM) is 85%. The results of this study showed a significant improvement in students' writing scores. In the preliminary study test, the average student writing score was 60.22 with only 22.22% of students passing the criteria. Furthermore, in cycle I, the average score of students became 75.5 while the percentage of students who passed the criteria was 61.1%. In cycle II, the average score of students rose to 80.1 with the percentage of students who passed the success criteria was 94.4. Cycle II has reached the expectation of the success criteria both from the average score and the percentage who passed the Minimum Competency Standards (KKM), so it can be concluded that Threads can enhance students’ writing skills in exposition texts in SILC at SMK PGRI 1 Kediri.
