Abstract

Vocabulary mastery is a crucial component in learning English, it plays a major role in comprehension, production, and effective communication. This study aimed to determine whether there is a significant difference in vocabulary mastery between students taught using Bamboozle and those taught using Wordwall. The research focused on the effectiveness of vocabulary instruction among seventh-grade students at SMP Al Huda, Kota Kediri. A quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design was employed. The sample consisted of 52 students selected through purposive sampling: Class VII A served as the experimental group (using Bamboozle), while Class VII C functioned as the control group (using Wordwall). Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests to assess students' vocabulary mastery before and after treatment. The data were analyzed using SPSS version 22 and the ANCOVA statistical test. The results showed a significance value (sig.) of less than 0.05, indicating a statistically significant difference between the two groups. Therefore, the null hypothesis (H₀) is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Hₐ) is accepted. It mean that the use of Bamboozle as a learning medium is significantly more effective than Wordwall in improving students' vocabulary mastery. The post-test mean score of the experimental group was 82.15, while the control group scored 64.62. Thus, it can be concluded that Bamboozle is an effective tool for enhancing vocabulary mastery among seventh-grade students.
