Abstract

Most students consider English as a boring and difficult subject to learn, students also tend to be passive when learning takes place. Some of the factors that cause this include the lack of English practice outside the classroom and traditional teaching methods, resulting in lower motivation and focus to learn English. To increase students' motivation in learning English, the use of innovative strategies is essential, especially through interesting and interactive assessment media. One of them is Quizizz “Paper Mode”. This feature allows the quiz to remain interactively accessible even when in offline or printed form, making it flexible for situations with limited internet access. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Quizizz Paper Mode, students’ perceived usefulness of Quizizz paper mode, and students’ motivation in English learning at MTs. Nurul Islam Kediri. This study uses quantitative survey method. The research sample consisted of 44 students of class VII MTs. Nurul Islam. Data were collected through a learning motivation questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS to find out the implementation of using Quizizz Paper Mode, the students’ perceived usefulness of Quizizz paper mode and students’ motivation in learning English by using Quizizz Paper Mode. The results showed that Quizizz Paper Mode is effective in improving students' motivation, engagement, and performance in English learning based on students' percieve. Interest in learning increased from 45% to 73%, engagement from 28% to 41%, and positive attitude towards challenges from 46% to 70%, intrinsic motivation rose from 46% to 60%, while extrinsic from 59% to 60%, in accordance with Self-Determination Theory (SDT). This media proved to be an innovative assessment that improved learning effectiveness.
