Abstract
The low level of students' mathematical literacy is caused by the current mathematics teaching, which tends to be conventional and lacks context. Students find it difficult to solve story problems and questions that emphasize higher-order thinking skills. Therefore, practice questions are needed that can measure higher-order thinking skills and use everyday life contexts. Therefore, this study aims to determine the development process, validity, and practicality of the HOTS mathematics literacy test instrument with an ethnomathematics context on trigonometric ratio material for 11th-grade students at SMAN 1 Gurah. The developed instrument consists of 10 essay questions. This research is a research and development study or Research and Development that uses the Borg and Gall development model, which includes (1) potential and problems, (2) data collection, (3) product design, (4) design validation, (5) design revision, (6) product testing, (7) product revision, and (8) usage testing. The subjects of the trials in this research consisted of 2 assessment experts, 2 student response questionnaire experts, and XI grade students from SMAN 1 Gurah. The results of this research indicate that: the HOTS mathematics literacy test instrument contextualized in ethnomathematics on the topic of trigonometric ratios at SMAN 1 Gurah has good quality. This quality was assessed based on expert reviews and the results of the question trials with students. The expert reviews showed that the questions were appropriate in terms of mathematical content, HOTS, mathematics literacy indicators, and ethnomathematics. The student trials indicated that the questions were valid and reliable, with a difficulty level of 40% of the questions categorized as easy and 60% as medium, and the question discrimination power categorized as sufficient.
