Abstract
This study aimed at improving the students' speaking skill through the use of Inside-Outside Circle method. This classroom action research was conducted at seventh grade of MTs. Darussalam Tulungagung in academic year 2014/2015. The subjects of the study were 16 students consist of 12 males and 4 females. This study was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of two sessions, which were each session for the treatment and in the end of the cycle for the test. Each cycle involved planning, action, observation, and reflection. The instruments used in this study were observation, interview, and tests. This study was carried out based on preliminary observation, which indicated that the students had problem in speaking ability. This result of the study showed that the students' speaking skill improved through the implementation of Inside- Outside Circle method. It was shown by the students' mean score in the tests. The students' mean score in the test on cycle 1 was 66.25 (62.5%). Then it improved to 76.25 in cycle II. It was 12 students (81.25%) who are able to achieve the passing grade score > 7.0. The students' speaking ability further improved after the researcher modified the teaching and learning activities in cycle II. The result of questionnaires indicated that Inside-Outside Circle method could help the students in speaking ability.
