Abstract
Student developments and global problems that continue to be dynamic require a wise attitude. The Merdeka Curriculum is here to provide changes for a better quality of learning. One of the superior programs presented to bring about significant change is Guru Penggerak. The Guru Penggerak is here to carry out the educational mission of the father of Indonesian education, Ki Hajar Dewantara, that education must be in accordance with the child's nature and age. This research method is descriptive qualitative where data is obtained by observation. The instruments used in this research to obtain data were observation, interviews and documentation. The subjects of this research were 3 Guru Penggerak from 2 different schools and also interviews with 4 children to find out perceptions regarding the roles of Guru Penggerak in their schools. It was found from the research results that the Guru Penggerak was able to implement the principles of learning by taking sides with students and playing an active roles in the school ecosystem. Students view positively towards teaching methods in class and their roles in the school environment. Meanwhile, the obstacles faced are adjustments to the curriculum and new methods related to student-centered learning and lack of support from colleagues. The roles of the Guru Penggerak in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum has had quite an impact on changes in the quality of learning in Indonesia. The learning principles applied understand student needs and develop all their potential.
