Abstract
The conversation commonly happened in purpose giving information or to entertain each other, but sometimes people also give their utterance by implicit meaning which called conversational implicature. Here, the writer would discuss about conversational implicature also the type of conversational implicature, they are: 1.) Generalized Conversational Implicature which does not need specific knowledge to understand it, 2.) Particularized Conversational Implicature as the opposite type which need the specific knowledge and concept to understand it, on The Axe Files interview. The Axe Files interview is a talk show which mostly used implied meaning between Axelrod and his guest as the object. This research used qualitative research as the design and the data consist of video, transcript and the audio from Axe Files interview. For analyzing data, firstly, the writer read the transcript while listening the audio to get the stressing utterance. Then, continuing the observe by watching the video for several times to understand the concept and the implied meaning from their mimicry/body language also facial expression. Next, the writer categorized the type of implied meaning based on Grice’s theory, also the function based on Halliday’s theory. At the result, writer found 14 data which containing 6 utterances of Generalized Conversational Implicature and 8 utterances of Particularized Conversational Implicature. The Axe Files show also containing implied meaning which have 7 functions of language, they are: 3 utterance from personal, 1 utterance from regulatory, 4 utterances from representation, 1 utterance from interactional, 2 utterances from instrumental, 2 utterances from heuristic, and 1 utterance from imaginative as the answers of research questions before.
