Abstract

This study uses imitating movie scene method that has a purpose to improve the speaking ability at 11th grade students at SMAN 8 Kediri. This method demands the students to train their speaking ability with imitating method from the movie scene. The research method is classroom action research (CAR) which follows the research procedure from Kemmis & Taggart (1988). The procedure begin with identifying problems, then planning a lesson plan which continued as a plan to collect and analyze the data. Reflection was also part of the Kemmis & Taggart procedure to reflect if there is something that need to be fixed and also a determiner to continue for the next cycle. All steps from Kemmis & Taggart then discussed with experienced person to take a better next action in the next step. Based on the research result, the students were asked to perform a movie scene from the movie clip and script that been provided by researcher for 3 minutes perform. It has been found that in the Cycle performance was not improved yet to reach the cut score which is 70. In Cycle 1, a lot of students was not possible to reach the cut score for the performance which achieve 31,6% successful rate. However, in the Cycle 2 the students were making a good progress in their performance that achieved 76,3% on the percentage. This indicates that imitating movie scene has a good effect in speaking English learning activity.
