Abstract
Based on the results of the author's observations, the English teacher who teaches at MTsN 2 Nganjuk has not implemented the 6-3-5 brainwriting technique. Therefore the writer is very interested in applying this technique to MTsN 2 Nganjuk students to practice writing, this aims to determine the effectiveness of this technique when used to train writing to MTsN 2 Nganjuk students. The conclusion that can be drawn is that brainwriting is a technique of pouring ideas or thoughts on a sheet of paper which is carried out alternately with group members. With this technique, students will learn to think more creatively and not be afraid to make mistakes. The 6-3-5 brainwriting technique is a type of brain storming that makes the writer work together with friends or colleagues, share several ideas in parallel in a circle ofsix people and one topic to solve together. The research question is : is there a significant achievement effect on the ability to write descriptive texts in students who have been taught writing using the 6-3-5 brainwriting technique when compared with writing ability of students who are taught using the Think-Pair-Share technique?. The goal of achieved in this research is to investigate older students using the 6-3-5 brainwriting technique in teaching writing descriptive text to get a better achievement in writing than students who are taught using the Think-Pair-Share technique. The design of this research was quasi-experimental because cannot take the sample randomly. The population was the students of class VIII MTsN 2 NGANJUK. The samples were two classes that named experimental and control group. The experimental group was class VIII-8 that consists of 36 students, meanwhile the control group was class VIII-7 that consists of 36 students. The researcher used tests as the instrument of the research. The format of the test is oral test. In analyzing data, the researcher used Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) by SPSS Program 20.0 version The result of this research showed that the data was normally distributed. It was proven by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test that the significant value (p) of tests were .155 for pre-test of the experimental group, .123 for pre-test of the control group, .161 for post-test of the experimental group, and .149 for post-test of the control group. (p>α 0.05). The homogeneity variances test shows that (p) was .250 (p>α 0.05). The homogeneity regression (Slope) shows that (p) was .459 (p>α 0.05). The relationship between covariate and dependent variable was linear at 0.000 (p< α 0.05). It was enough evidence to reject H0 and accept Ha. Based of the finding , the researcher conclude that Brainwritting 6-3-5 is an effective media in teaching writing Keywords: Effectiveness, Brainwritting 3-6-5, Descriptive text
