Abstract
Romdhiyah, Alfani Nafisatur. (2024). The Effectiveness Of Word Wall Vocabulary Game For Seventh Grade Students' At Mts Ma’arif NU Kota Blitar. Department of English Language Education, Faculty of Education and Teacher Training, State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Kediri. Advisor: (I)Dra. Nurul Ain, M.Pd. (II) Ria Fakhrurriana, M.Pd. Keyword : Word Wall, Vocabulary Game English language education in Indonesia begins at elementary school and continues through university. To achieve English proficiency, it is important to expand vocabulary and engage in regular speaking practice. At the junior high school level, students need skills in all aspects of English, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing. However, a lack of vocabulary often causes difficulties for students. Factors contributing to this issue include monotonous and unengaging teaching methods. Therefore, creative approaches such as the use of games are needed to enhance students' motivation to learn. This study aims to determine the effect of using the Word Wall game on the vocabulary mastery of seventh-grade students at MTs Ma'arif NU Kota Blitar. This study employs a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group format. The research subjects are seventh-grade students at MTs Ma'arif NU Kota Blitar for the 2023/2024 academic year, with samples taken from two classes: VII A as the experimental group and VII C as the control group. The samples were selected randomly. The research instruments include tests to measure students' vocabulary mastery before and after the treatment using Word Wall. The experimental group received the treatment, while the control group followed conventional teaching methods using Power Point. It was found that both teaching methods, using Wordwall and Power Point, were equally effective in improving student learning outcomes. The T- test results showed a significance value of 0,629 > 0,05, indicating no significant difference in learning outcomes between the learning methods using PowerPoint and Wordwall. Therefore, it can be concluded that Wordwall and PowerPoint can be used flexibly by educators in teaching vocabulary without reducing the effectiveness of learning.
