Abstract

Reading is a process carried out by the reader to understand the message to be conveyed by the author through the medium of words. One of the obstacles in reading among students is the loss of student enthusiasm in reading with traditional media such as reading with book media. The current generation is more likely to prefer reading with electronic gadget media. Even by conducting reading tests, traditional methods are considered less interesting by students. Armed with this problem, researchers want to develop an android-based reading learning and test application called READRITE which was developed using an application developer website called Thunkable to support students' interest in learning and taking tests. This study aims to produce the feasibility of reading learning applications with hortatory exposition text material at MAN 4 Kediri. This research is using a Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model, namely (Analysis, Design, Development, implementation, and Evaluation). The resulting product is READRITE, a reading learning application, and reading test media. The results of this study indicate that the READRITE application with hortatory exposition text material that has been developed is suitable for learning reading in English subjects at MAN 4 Kediri.
