Abstract

Research into the educational values portrayed in novels demonstrates the significance of education and the positive influence of reading on personal growth. The utilization of novels as educational tools garners attention, enabling readers to contemplate their connections with themselves and their surroundings. This reflective process shapes profound values, establishing a robust foundation for societal, economic, and cultural advancement. This study aims to uncover the educational themes within the novel, offering valuable insights for students and future researchers in instilling moral lessons among the younger generation.Employing a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design, this study adapts the Ary and Cresswell learning model to suit its research objectives. Qualitative research entails the collection, analysis, and description of research subjects through observations of individual behaviors and interactions. The primary data source utilized is the novel "A Street Cat Named Bob". Additionally, the researchers draw upon various literary sources such as books, journal articles, and prior theses to bolster their analysis. Through the examination of the novel, researchers identified 16 out of 18 types of educational values including religious, honesty, tolerance, discipline, industriousness, creativity, independence, democracy, curiosity, respectfulness, friendliness, peacemaking, literary interest, environmental concern, social responsibility, and care. However, two values, namely national spirit and patriotism, were not explicitly identified. In conclusion, it can be affirmed that "A Street Cat Named Bob" encompasses numerous educational values that are applicable to everyday life. This narrative serves as a poignant reminder that change, friendship, and compassion remain attainable, even amidst challenging and unforeseen circumstances.
