Basically, there are many types of text in English, one of them is procedure text. Based on the result of preliminary observation, students at SMAN 1 Grogol had difficulty in writing procedure text. They lacked understanding of the definition, general structure, and language features. Therefore, the author used Mind Mapping technique to improve the writing skills of procedure texts for X-9 of SMAN 1 Grogol. This research aims to improve the effect of using mind mapping technique on the skills of writing procedure texts for X-9 of SMAN 1 Grogol. The subjects in this research were 35 students’ X-9 class. The author used the Classroom Action Research as a method of this study which adopted from Kemmis’ and McTaggart’s design. This research was conducted in two cycles and each cycle had two meetings. The data was gathered through observation sheets and tests. Data analysis in this study was a measurement of student activity during the learning process before and after applying the mind mapping technique. Data collection was also done by measuring data from several tests (pre-cycle test and cycle test). Based on the first cycle student observation checklist, it showed that the classroom situation was less conducive. It was caused by a 15-minute break in the middle of teaching and learning activities, but students' responses to the mind mapping technique in writing procedure texts were quite good even though there were still some students who made mistakes when answering questions. Then on the observation sheet of the second cycle there was an improvement in teaching and learning activities, it could be seen in the students' response and duration in completing the task using mind mapping in writing procedure text on very good, it could be seen when they had no difficulty in compiling the general structure of procedure text. They also used language features well. Furthermore, the results showed that there was an improvement in students' writing skills on procedure text through Mind Mapping technique. Most of the students scored excellent grades in the second cycle. The score of Minimum Mastery Criteria – Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM) in English subject was 75. In the pre-cycle test there were only 8 or 22.8% of students who passed the KKM, and the average pre- cycle test score was 61.6. Then, in cycle test 1 there were 20 or 57.1% of students who passed the KKM, and the average cycle test 1 was 75. Furthermore, in cycle test 2 there were 33 or 94.2% of students passing the KKM, and the average value of cycle test 2 was 84.9. Based on the results of cycle test II, it showed that
