Abstract

Reading is a good activity to increase knowledge and experiences. People can get much information, idea, and also opinion by reading, There are three objectives of this study. First is to know the reading habit of MAN Krecek students. Second is to know the English achievement of MAN Krecek students. Third to know the whether there is any correlation between reading habit and English achievement of MAN Krecek students. The research design of this study is quantitative correlation. The sample of this study was 108 of MAN Krecek students in class XI in academic year 2016/2017. The data of this research were collected using questionnaire and documents. The questionnaire is used to know the students’ reading habit in MAN Krecek. Then, the document is used to know the students English achievement in MAN Krecek. Finally, Pearson Product Moment is used to analyze whether there is any correlation between reading habit and English achievement of MAN Krecek students. The result shows that most of MAN Krecek students have a medium reading habit with score among 21-40 which covers 57 students. Besides, most of students have score among 66-79 with category B which cover 48 students. Then, significance of reading habit and English achievement are 0.108 (0.108 > 0.05). So, Ha is rejected and Ho is accepted. It means that there is no significant correlation between students’ reading habit and their English achievement in MAN Krecek. it means that the students’ reading habit is not related to the students’ English achievement.
