Yazid, Anshori. 2018. Developing Islamic Historical Recount Texts for Senior High Schools. Thesis. Faculty of Master’s Degree English Education, State College for Islamic Studies Kediri. Advisors : (I) Dr. Toyyibah, M.Pd. (II) Dr. Fathor Rasyid, M.Pd. Key words : Developing, Reading Material, Islamic Historical Recout texts, Asbabun Nuzul Al-Qur’an, Senior High Schools. The objective of the research was to develop Islamic based hiatorical recount texts for senior high schools students in Kediri. This was a Research and Development (R & D) proposed by Borg and Gall. The researcher modified the model according to the needs of the research purpose by small scale, and to meet a gap that cannot be fulfilled by Borg and Gall’s model. The adapted models for developing Islamic historical recount texts consist of six steps. They are: 1) Need Analysis, 2) Developing Preliminary Form of Product, 3) Expert Validation, 4) Revision, 5) Field Testing, and 6) Final Product. The subjects of the research are 20 seventh grade students of MA AL-HUDA Kediri town. The data of this study were in the form of quantitative and qualitative data. The quantitative data were obtained from questionnaires. The qualitative data were obtained from the comments, suggestions as the corrections of the product from expert validations. The product of the research is some Islamic historical recount text materials for senior high schools. Based on the students’ need analysis, the researcher got the data that 81,7% of students agree if the process of teaching and learning (recount text) using Islamic historical recount texts. In this research, expert validations were involved in order to validate of the product. There were seven aspects that they validated of the product: The content, language use, organization, vocabulary, mechanics, character value and exercises. Therefore, the result of first expert validation is ....... % indicate that product was categorized on (good) criteria. And 87,27% from second expert validation indicate that product was categorized on (good) criteria. and 81,47% of the result of try out material indicate that product was categorized on (good) criteria. So indicated that the Islamic historical recount text materials which consists of the main text of recount text based on story of Asbabun Nuzul Al-Qur’an, reciting Ayah of Qur’an, keywords, exercises and character values got good respond as teaching material in recount texts learning and it was best fit for Senior High School students.
