Abstract
Due to Covid-19 outbreak, many schools have moved to online learning. It is important for the teacher to provide ample and effective activities to the students when teaching them to speak in online forums. In the practice of teaching speaking in virtual meetings, teachers have implemented video-conference platform such as Zoom. The research was aimed to exploring the teachers’ perception towards the use of Zoom in teaching English speaking skills in Forum Kampung Bahasa (FKB) Pare. A survey was designed to describe and interpret the phenomenon with quantitative approach. This research was conducted at Forum Kampung Bahasa (FKB) Pare. There were 170 tutors completed the questionnaire through a Google form. There were 24 items categorized on zoom basic features, readiness, easiness, and benefits which scaled using Likert scale 1-5. The data were analyzed descriptively. The findings revealed that the teachers were reported to have high perception on the use of Zoom. This study indicates that the use of zoom is effectively to be used in speaking class. It could be a reference to improve the teacher’s teaching in EFL classroom. It is also important for the students to be actively joining the Zoom meeting.
