Abstract
This research focused on the using of word formation used in comments on Blackpink’s twitter video.This research brings two problems. There are what the type of word formation used in comments on Blackpink’s video andhow the word used in comments on Blackpink’s video formed. The aims of this research are to analyze types of word formation and break down the structure in a new word. This research was conducted using the qualitative descriptive method. It helped the researcher to analyze more easily and avoid difficulties. The limit of the study was taken from the Blackpink’s twitter video that has at least 2000 comments, because to avoid the impact of the same word and the use of a private account. The data were collected by taking a picture of the comments. Then, the researcher classified and analyzed word formation found based on Yule’s theory. The result of this research shows that not all of the types of word formation is found. The researcher only found derivation, compounding, acronym, blending, clipping, and borrowing. In the findings, the most dominant type of word formation is derivation.
