Department of English Language Education, Faculty of Tarbiyah (IAIN Kediri). Advisors: (I) Ima Fitriyah, M.Pd, (II) Nur Afifi, M.App. Ling, Ph.D. Keywords: Language, English Learning, Strategies Students who come from various backgrounds use several strategies in learning English. In learning English, students also face several challenges. Such as Syarif Hidayatullah Cyber Pesantren provides Arabic and English language education. This study aims to examine strategies and see the challenges faced by students in learning English as a foreign language, especially regarding the types of strategies that are most often used and preferred by students in using these strategies. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method in the form of a case study involving students at Syarif Hidayatullah. In this study, the researcher used the collected data and analyzed using descriptive-qualitative analysis. Research data obtained by using observation, and interviews. Observations were made for several meetings and then interviewed with 6 students at Syarif Hidayatullah Cyber Pesantren. The findings of this study indicate that the challenges faced in learning English are insufficient time, difficult material (grammar), speaking, and unfamiliar vocab. The strategies that students use when learning English various strategies including affective strategies, metacognitive strategies, socio-affective strategies, and cognitive strategies. they must be trained to understand how to use the right strategy in learning English. some lessons can be combined with the use of websites that students can visit and use various language learning strategies to motivate and direct them to become better learners.
