Nafi’ah, Haulan. 2021. The Correlation Among Self-Confidence and Critical Thinking towards Speaking Skill of EFL Learners at Balai Lembaga Kerja (BLK) Gedongan Cirebon. Department of English Language Education, Faculty of Education and Teacher Training, State Islamic Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN) Kediri. Advisors: Drs. Agus Edi Winarto, M.Pd. and Nurul Aini, M.Pd. Keywords: Critical Thinking, Self-Confidence, Speaking Skill. Considering the fact that critical thinking and self-confidence are very fundamental for students, and many education experts believe that those skills influence students speaking skill. There are three objectives in this study: 1) To find out the correlation between self-confidence and critical thinking, 2) To find out the correlation between self-confidence and speaking skill, 3) To find out the correlation between critical thinking and speaking skill. This study is quantitative study with correlation research design. 31 students at Balai Lembaga Kerja Komunitas Kejuruan Bahasa Yayasan Manbaul Hikmah Pesantren Gedongan Cirebon are the sample of this study. Likert scale questionnaires about critical thinking adopted from Facione and self-confidence of communication willingness adopted from Park and Lee are used as the instruments. Self-confidence questionnaire consisted of 29 question items and the critical thinking questionnaire consisted of 26 question items. Beside those questionnaires, speaking test using Students Oral Language Observation Matrix (SOLOM) is used to know the students’ speaking ability.The data obtained through the questionnaire and speaking test then analyzed by using SPSS. This research found that there is moderate correlation between self-confidence and critical thinking, self-confidence and speaking skill, and critical thinking and speaking skill with coefficient correlation sequentially .431, .509, and .579. This result indicates three intepretations: 1) The higher students’ self-confidence, the higher their critical thinking, 2) The higher their self-confidence, the higher their speaking skill, and 3) The higher their critical thinking, the higher their speaking skill. This result shows that the involvement of critical thinking and self-confidence should be encouraged in speaking class to boost their speaking improvement.
