Abstract

Conversational implicature is one of the kinds of implicature. To make a good conversation, the speaker and the listener should have one interpretation in order to avoid misunderstanding. Misunderstanding often occurs when the listener does not understand the meaning of the speaker’s utterance. Sentilan Sentilun Talkshow contains on conversational implicatures with the background of javanese culture, it presents the dialogues with non natural meaning. So, the researcher takes the dialogues as the data. The purpose of the study is to analyze the implied meaning of the utterances. The researcher uses a qualitative approach as a research design. The data source of this research is two episodes of Sentilan Sentilun Talkshow on Metro TV. To collect the data, the researcher watches from youtube and analyzes by Grice’s theory. The researcher found 17 conversational implicatures from two episodes of Sentilan Sentiun Talkshow on Metro TV. There are 7 conversational implicatures from Godaan Penegak Hukum episode, it consists of 5 utterances which indicate the non-natural meaning and 2 utterances indicate the natural meaning. And 10 conversational implicatures from Indonesia Damai episode, it consists of 8 utterances which indicate the non-natural meaning and 2 utterances indicate the natural meaning.
