Abstract
This study was conducted to discover the type of politeness strategy used by main character of Wonder Woman Movie, and the reason the main character of Wonder Woman Movie used politeness strategy. Brown and Levinson’s theory become basist concept of politeness strategy. This study is analyzed using descriptive qualitative method. The writer transcribe the main role character in Wonder Woman movie to analyse the utterance using theory politeness strategy. The writer analyze the utterance of the main character of Wonder Woman Movie to answer of the research question. The writer found that there are 51 data which use politeness strategy in the movie consist positive politeness strategy 35,3% (18 utterance), negative politeness strategy 11,8% (6 utterance), off record 1,9% (1 utterance), bald on record 51% (26 utterance). The factors influencing the use of politeness strategy are payoff, and relevant circumstance include social distance, relative power, and rank of imposition, which social distance and payoff become the majority factor influencing the use of politeness strategy.
