Abstract
In the process of translation, a translator may be faced difficulties such as finding the closest natural equivalent in the target language (TL). In order to help the translator finding the best equivalent in TL also it is can easily understand by the TL readership, Translation experts have devised various procedures to deal with different types of texts in translation, translator may use a variety of procedures which differ according to the contextual aspects of both the source text and the target text. This study is acrried out to reveal the translation procedure applied by the translator in the caption of Instagram. This study was a qualitative one and the design of this study was content or document analysis since it focuses on analyzing and identifying the translation procedure applied in the Instagram caption of Travelgram Korea, the data are analyzed by the theory proposed Peter Newmark’s Translation Procedure (1988). The result of the study revealed that the procedure applied by translator involved : Transference, Naturalization, Transposition , Expansion , Compensation, Modulation, Other procedure : Couplets. Among all procedure proposed by Newmarks’s Translation Procedure, only four procedures were not applied in the study namely : Cultural Equivalent, Functional Equivalent, Descriptive Equivalent, Through Translation, Reduction, Paraphrase, Adaptation, Other Procedure : Adaptaion and Equivalent. From the result of study researcher suggest for the next researcher can broaden this study by analyzing Translation procedure in applied in particular object SL that contains from various account of instagram, and can also broaden the scope of this study with a deeper analysis to find the unidentified in this study.
