Abstract

SALSABILA, ZAKYNUHA. (2025) AN ANALYSIS OF THE INTERPRETATION OF QS. YUNUS: 58 IN THE MANUSCRIPT OF KITAB SYARH AL-HIKAM PENGKOK PADANGAN BOJONEGORO (CODICOLOGY AND TEXTOLOGY STUDY). Thesis. Qur’anic Studies and Tafsir Study Program, Faculty of Ushuluddin and Dakwah, UIN Syekh Wasil Kediri. Advisor (1) Dr. H. Masrul Anam, Lc. MA. and (2) Qoidatul Marhumah, Lc. M.Th.I. Keywords: Manuscript, QS. Yunus: 58, Sharḥ al-Ḥikam, Interpretation, Codicology and Textology. The manuscript of Kitab Sharḥ al-Ḥikam is one of the cultural heritages of the Indonesian archipelago that contains elements of Sufism. It is complete with Pegon meanings written under each line of the main text. This study aims to interpret the contents of the Sharḥ al-Ḥikam Pengkok Padangan Bojonegoro manuscript, with a primary focus on analyzing the contents that reflect the interpretation of the Qur'an. In addition, this study also aims to reveal the codicological and textual aspects of the manuscript in order to understand the physical structure, historical background, and authenticity of the text contained therein. This research uses a qualitative approach and is based on a literature study. It focuses on the Sharḥ al-Ḥikam manuscript and the Tafsir book as the main sources, with other literature as supporting sources. In addition, to obtain valid research data, field research may be conducted to determine the condition of the manuscript, its history, and the ins and outs of its existence. The findings of this study show that the contents of the Sharḥ al-Ḥikam manuscript contain material that is in line with the contents of the Qur'anic tafsir, particularly in the interpretation of QS. Yunus: 58, which is the main focus of the research theme in this manuscript. The interpretation is unique but still in harmony with existing tafsir, which will be explained further in the discussion. From a codicological and textual perspective, it was found that this manuscript is stored in the family home of the al-Hadi Islamic Boarding School in Pengkok Hamlet, Padangan Village, Padangan District, Bojonegoro Regency. This manuscript measures 20.5 cm x 17 cm with a thickness of 2 cm. It was written directly by KH. Fathurrohman, who was the successor to the founder of the pesantren around 1920. Written in black and red ink on European-style paper, this manuscript consists of 148 sheets, 296 pages (without numbering), each containing 9 lines written neatly in Arabic script and Arabic in the main text and Pegon script in Javanese in the translation below. Its content is exactly the same as the Kitab Sharḥ al-Ḥikam that is commonly found, the difference being the meaning of the Pegon script.
