Abstract

ABSTRAK JAMIL, AHMAD UTABIK SOVKHAL. Dr. H. ANIS HUMAIDI, M.Ag. dan NOVI ROSITA RAHMAWATI, M.Pd., Tradisi Gojlokan Dan Efeknya Kepada Mentalitas Santri Di Pondok Pesantren Nganjuk. Kata Kunci: Gojlokan, Mentalitas, Post Traumatic Growth Interaksi sosial dalam lingkungan pondok pesantren yang majemuk melahirkan dinamika komunikasi yang khas dan kompleks. Dalam keseharian santri, sering ditemukan perilaku verbal yang secara bentuk menyerupai bullying, namun dipahami sebagai sebuah candaan dan sudah menjadi suatu kebiasaan sejak zaman dahulu. Fenomena ini dikenal dengan istilah gojlokan, yaitu suatu praktik komunikasi verbal yang mencakup ejekan, pemberian nama julukan, dan ujaran kasar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji bentuk, penyebab, dan dampak psikologis dari tradisi gojlokan terhadap mentalitas santri di Pondok Pesantren Nganjuk. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif fenomenologis, penelitian ini memfokuskan pada bentuk, faktor penyebab, serta efek gojlokan kepada mentalitas santri. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi lapangan. Kemudian analisis data menggunakan metode analisis tematik. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa bentuk dari tradisi gojlokan meliputi, mengejek, menjuluki, dan berkata kasar. Kemudian faktor yang menyebabkan terbentuknya tradisi gojlokan adalah faktor lingkungan dan faktor teman sebaya. Terdapat dua efek dari tradisi gojlokan kepada mentalitas santri yaitu efek negatif yang disebut dengan fixed mindset seperti, minder, pesimis dan culture shock. Efek lain yaitu efek positif yang merupakan bentuk peralihan dari efek negatif, hal ini sesuai dengan konsep teori Post Traumatic Growth. Efek positif ini juga disebut dengan growth mindset seperti peningkatan kesadaran dan tanggung jawab, serta penguatan mental. ABSTRACT JAMIL, AHMAD UTABIK SOVKHAL. (2021). Keywords: Gojlokan, Mentality, Post Traumatic Growth Social interaction within the diverse environment of Islamic boarding schools generates unique and complex communication dynamics. In the daily lives of santri (Islamic boarding school students), verbal behaviors that outwardly resemble bullying are often observed, yet they are perceived as jokes and have long been practiced as a tradition. This phenomenon is known as gojlokan, a verbal communication practice that includes teasing, giving nicknames, and the use of harsh language. This study aims to examine the forms, causes, and psychological impacts of the gojlokan tradition on the mentality of Islamic boarding school students (santri) in a pesantren in Nganjuk. Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach, this research focuses on the forms, causal factors, and effects of gojlokan on students’ mental states. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and field documentation. Then analyze the data using thematic analysis method. The findings of this study reveal that the forms of the gojlokan tradition include mocking, labeling, and the use of harsh or offensive language. The contributing factors to the emergence of this tradition are primarily environmental influences and peer group dynamics. The psychological impacts of gojlokan on the students' mentality are twofold. The first is a negative impact, often characterized by a fixed mindset, such as feelings of inferiority, pessimism, and culture shock. The second is a positive impact, which emerges as a transformation of the negative effects this aligns with the concept of Post-Traumatic Growth Theory. The positive outcomes are associated with the development of a growth mindset, including increased self-awareness, a greater sense of responsibility, and enhanced mental resilience.
