This study is conducted due to the importance of meaning equivalence between two languages (English & Indonesia) in literary works translation. The researcher believed, the way translators translating the text or interpreting the original story into the target language is playing the important rules in reader's understanding and perspective towards main idea of the story. The purpose of this study is to know the translation strategies used by the translator in translating figure of speech expression found in The Fault in Our Stars novel written by John Green. It is also conducted to know how are the meaning equivalence between the figure of speech expression from source language and its translation. The researcher designed this study as a qualitative research. Since this study is dealing with the analysis of the figure of speech translation, where the figure of speech expressions is become the object of this study. The instrument of this study is the researcher herself. There are five steps in analyzing the data. The first is identifying the figure of speech expression both in original and its Indonesian translation. The second is categorizing the data of figure of speech expressions based on its kinds. The third is analyzing its meaning equivalence between English and Indonesian version, and sort it into the meaning equivalence categories. The fourth step is analyzing the strategies that used by the translator in translating the figure of speech expressions that found in novel. After the fourth step is done by the researcher, the last step in analyzing the data is concluding the findings of this study, about the kinds of figure of speech expressions that found in The Fault in Our Stars novel, its meaning equivalence and the strategy that used by the translator in translating the figure of speech expressions from English into Indonesian. The result of this study shows there are three from four strategies used by the translator. The first strategy and the most strategy that used by the researcher or about 89% is translating figure of speech expression into the same images. The second strategy is translating the figure of speech into different images. And the last and the least used strategy is translating the figure of speech into non-figurative expression. As for the meaning equivalence of the figure of speech expression, about 50% of the expression has equivalent image. And about 19% of the expression is categorized into partly increased and 38% of the figurative expression is categorized into partly decreased, and the rest or about 8,4% has different (not equivalent) meaning
