Abstract
Ratnasari, Desi.2015. "The Effectiveness of Using Whole Brain Teaching to Build up English Vocabulary at the Tenth Grade" of SMAN 1 Ngadiluwih, Kediri In The Academic Year Of 2015/2016. Advisor 1, Mohammad Muhyidin, M.Pd. advisor 2, Erna Nurkholida M.Pd. Keyword: Effectiveness, Whole Brain Teaching, Vocabulary. Vocabulary is the basic skill in English which it is needed to master and understand well by the students. The fact, students have low motivation to study English because they think it is difficult and they do not know the meaning of some new words. Teachers have to be creative to create new method or strategy to make students interested in learning. In this study, the researcher conducted to know the effectiveness of using Whole Brain Teaching to build up students' English vocabulary. The researcher uses quasi experimental for comparing two groups in different class that has same score test in the rapport. One class as experimental group and the other class as control group. There are 24 students of each class. The experimental group is taught by using Whole Brain Teaching and control group is taught without Whole Brain Teaching. In this research, the researcher used two tests, they are pre-test and post-test to measure the students' ability before and after treatment. The result of the tests were analyzed by using ANCOVA. Based on the data analysis of the tests, the pre-test score of both groups are almost same. The mean of experimental group is 61,1 and control group is 61.5. The mean score after treatment of experimental group is 75,6 and the control group is 72,6. From the result score that can be known the significant of this research is 0.184. it means that p>a (0.184>0.05). Based on the result, the null hypothesis is accepted and the alternative hypothesis is rejected. Therefore, teaching English vocabulary by using Whole Brain Teaching was not significant different with teaching English vocabulary by using conventional method in the tenth grade of SMAN I Ngadiluwih. Although the research finding is not effective to use at the school, but the students felt more interest in learning English especially English vocabulary. the students are not familiar with the method, because whole brain teaching never use at that school but the students value in the post-test is more improve from the pre-test score. So that way, for the other research needs to look for and tries the other method to improve students' skill.
