Key words: Speech acts, Illocutionary acts, Implicit Meaning, Novel This study aims to know types of illocutionary acts found in novel The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky and implicit meaning of each type of illocutionary acts. The researcher chooses novel because novel can be found everywhere and many people like it. The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a novel that tells about a story of an introvert boy, Charlie and about his diary. The researcher uses descriptive qualitative method since this study intends to describe the types of illocutionary acts found in The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky and what is the implicit meaning in each type of illocutionary acts. The object of this study is the utterances found in novel The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. The researcher identifies illocutionary acts were found in novel. After that the researcher categorizing the data so that the researcher can divides the utterances based on the types of illocutionary acts. Then, to ease in analyzing the data, the researcher makes coding. After the researcher knew about utterance that included in type of illocutionary acts, the researcher finds out implicit meaning of each type of illocutionary acts that are used in the novel. And the last, the researcher makes conclusion. After analyzing the data, the researcher concludes that there are 105 utterances of illocutionary acts. Among 105 utterances, there are 5 types of illocutionary acts. Representative is type of illocutionary acts which mostly appears in the novel. Commisive, directive, expressive, and declarative are respectively next most appeared illocutionary in the novel. Kinds of representative which is often to use in novel is asserting, indicating, admitting, informing. describing, and swearing. It means that the writer or Charlie always wants to show what he wants to do or what another people to do. The percentage of occurrence of the illocutionary act types are representative: 56.2% (59 utterances). commissive: 14.3% (15 utterances), directive: 10.47% 11 utterances, expressive: 11.42% (12 utterances), and declarative: 7.61% (8 utterances). While in the implicit meaning, representative and commissive is the most types found in the novel. In representative, assert to give to know is the most implicit meaning used consisting of 25 utterances. This is because the writer wants the reader know about what he wants to do, what he feels and what the people do in the novel. And in commissive, hope for someone is the most implicit meaning used consisting of 4 utterances. This is because the writer hopes to his friend so that be his friend, the writer also hopes to his family so that be honest to him.
