Purnianda, Yuriskia. 2015. Slang Analysis on Jeff Kinney's Novel Diary of a Wimpy Kid, English Department, Faculty of Education, State College for Islamic Studies (STAIN) Kediri. Advisors: (1) Dra. Nurul Ain, M. Pd. (2) Chothibul Umam, M. Pd. Key words: Slang, Word Formation, Novel. This study aims to know the types of slang expressions found in the novel "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" by Jeff Kinney and the word formations processes of those slang words and phrases. The researcher chooses novel because it is the easiest form of literary works that can be accessed. Diary of a Wimpy Kid is a novel that tells about a story of a young boy, Greg Heffley in a year of his new middle school. This is an interesting novel because it contains of many slang expressions. The researcher uses descriptive qualitative method since this study intends to describe the types of slang found in "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" by Jeff Kinney and how those slang words and phrases morphologically formed. The object of this study is "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" by Jeff Kinney. The researcher reads the novel as the primary data source then takes some notes that related to the slang. After getting the data, the researcher prepares the data to analyze. After analyze the data, the researcher concludes that there are 89 slang expressions with 2 types of slang in the novel "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" by Jeff Kinney, those are common slang and in-group slang. Common slang is the types of slang that mostly used by the characters in the novel because there found 66 common slangs. And there are 23 in-group slangs. Then, there are 10 word formation processes that formed those slang words and phrases in that novel. Those 10 word formation processes are etymology, inflection, multiple processes, clipping, coinage, compounding, derivation, blending, borrowing, and backformation. While the word formation that mostly formed the slang words and phrases in the novel is etymology because there are 24 etymologies with percentage 27%. Next, there are 22 inflections with percentage 24,7%, 11 multiple processes with percentage 12,4%, 8 clippings with percentage 9%, 6 coinages with percentage 6,7%, 5 compoundings with percentage 5,6%, 5 derivations with percentage 5.6%, 4 blendings with percentage 4,5%, 3 borrowings with percentage 3,4%, and the last 1 backformation with percentage 1,1%..
