Abstract
Reading comprehension is one of the essential skills in Reading, especially for junior high school students. Nowadays, using media for teaching is one way that teachers can use. This research aims to investigate the effectiveness of using Prezi as a teaching media to improve students’ reading comprehension at an Islamic junior high school in Nganjuk. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi experimental design. The population consisted of seventh grade students at MTsN 2 Nganjuk in the academic year 2024/2025. The sample of this research were classes VII.10 as experimental class, which consist 30 students, and VII.9 as control class, which also consist 30 students. Data was collected through pretest and posttest to measure improvements in students' reading comprehension in the form of 20 true/false questions and a questionnaire to determine students' responses to the teaching reading comprehension using Prezi media. To analyze the data, researcher used Analysis of Covariate (ANCOVA) with the SPSS program version 23. The results showed that the average pretest score of the experimental class was 67.50, and increased to 91.16 in the posttest. Meanwhile, the control class had an average pretest score of 65.66 and a posttest score of 89.00. The ANCOVA test revealed a significance value of .000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference between the experimental and control groups staitiscally. Therefore, Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. In addition, students' responses to the use of Prezi were very positive, with the usefulness factor achieving the highest score of 80%, the ease of learning factor achieving the highest score of 80.83%, and the satisfaction factor achieving the highest score of 84.16%. All of these results falls into the “strongly agree” category. This finding suggests that digital teaching media like Prezi is able to increase student involvement in the learning process, clarifies reading comprehension material, and supports concept understanding visually. From the result of questionare on the teaching students reading comprehension using Prezi as a teaching media also provided positive impressions and benefits for students. In conclusion, teaching reading comprehension using Prezi is effective and positively received by students.
