Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) and the lack of innovation in teaching methods employed by the teacher. The research questions are: 1) How is the implementation of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) method applied to improve learning outcomes in PAI for class X at SMKN 2 Kediri? 2) Can the application of the Project-Based Learning method improve learning outcomes in PAI for class X at SMKN 2 Kediri?. This study is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in three cycles, each cycle consisting of: 1) Planning, 2) Implementation, 3)Observation, and 4) Reflection. Data were collected through interviews, observations,documentation, evaluations of learning outcomes, and questionnaires. The findings of thestudy are: 1) The implementation of the Project-Based Learning method in improving learning outcomes in PAI for class X at SMKN 2 Kediri was used to identify and understand student problems through pre-tests and post-tests. The PjBL method emphasizes group collaboration in every learning activity, regardless of academic knowledge, ethnicity, race,customs, culture, or religion. The learning process involves solving problems within groups by exchanging opinions and presenting the results of the discussions. Each cycle is dividedinto three stages: the initial stage, core activities, and the final stage; and 2) The improvement in student learning outcomes in PAI for class X at SMKN 2 Kediri after the application of the PjBL method was evident from the increase in the percentage of students who achieved learning mastery. Prior to the intervention, the completion rate was 44%, which increased to 81% after the intervention. In cycle I, 54.75% of students achieved mastery, while 45.25% did not. In cycle II, 59.45% of students achieved mastery, and 40.55% did not. In cycle III, the mastery rate rose to 81.08%, with 18.92% of students not achieving mastery.
