Abstract

The researcher aimed to find out how the use of Team Games Tournament (TGT) method to improve had a better score in teaching reading comprehension to the seventh grade students of MTsN 3 Kota Kediri. that are due to, many students get a low score of reading and they didn't have interest and motivate when learn english reading comprehension in the class. searcher applied Classroom Action Research In this research, the researcher applied Classroom Action Research (CAR) research design. There were two cycles, and one meeting every cycle in the research. In each cycle, the researcher did the planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting of the actions. The test has criteria of the success, it's if 80% of students score above the KKM 78 and with an average score of at least 80. From the findings and discussion, the result of Team Game Tournament (TGT) can improve students' reading comprehension be better. It can be seen from the results o f test-2 which shows an improvement in student scores. The criteria of success at least students get 80% or reach score 78. In the Preliminary test (Test-1), the mean score was 69,41 and in Cycle 1 it increased to 78,29. In preliminary test there were 12 of students passed and 22 of students were failed. Then, in Cycle test I there were 20 of students passed and 14 of students were failed. In Cycle test II there were 29 of students passed and 5 of students were failed. It meant that reading comprehension can improve using Team Game Tournament (TGT).
