Abstract
This study is conducted to improve the students’ listening skill using Podcast of the eighth grade of MTsN 1 Nganjuk. It was related to the result of preliminary study which showed that the students had some difficult in Listening. It used Classroom Action Research (CAR) in two cycles. Each cycle consists of three meetings and four steps; there were planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The subject of this study was the eighth grade students consisting 37 students of MTsN 1 Nganjuk in the academic year of 2018/2019. The instruments of this research were interview, observation checklist and test. For analyzing the data, the researcher designed two criteria of the success, there were ; 1) The achievement of listening test get minimum 70; for measuring the students’ score improvement in each cycle, 2) The students’ success who got minimum 80% of total students in the class; for knowing how many students could get minimum target score of the class. The result of this study showed that Podcast could improve the students’ listening skill. In Pre-test, there were five students could pass the minimum score 70. The average score in pre-test was 52.56 and the percentage of students’ success got 13.51%. Additionally, in Cycle 1, there were 17 of the students passed the minimum score. The average score in cycle 1 got 64.45 while the percentage of students’ success was 45.94%. Furthermore, in Cycle 2, there were also improvement which 31 of students could pass the target score. The average score in second cycle got 73.24 and followed by the percentage of students’ success 83.78%. Based on the data above, it can be concluded that Podcast media could improve the students’ listening skill of the eighth grade of MTsN 1 Nganjuk.
