Abstract

Self-efficacy is the way people believe about their capability. By having selfefficacy, people can measure themselves in doing some tasks briefly. Self-efficacy is necessary because it influences with people’s performance. Self-efficacy that accompanies reading comprehension is also called reading self-efficacy. Despite self-efficacy, this study also wants to investigate reading anxiety level of the students. Both self-efficacy and reading anxiety are totally different. The term anxiety is about feeling of tension, apprehension, worry and being threatened as a response in a particular condition. Sometimes anxiety affect with the student’s performance. The objective of this study is the researcher wants to know the correlation between self-efficacy, reading anxiety and reading comprehension achievement. This study uses correlational quantitative research as the research design. The participant of the research is 180 students of eleventh grade in MAN 2 Kota Kediri. There are three instruments in this study Those are reading test and two questionnaires. For reading test, the researcher adopts from TOEFL for Junior. And for questionnaire, there are self-efficacy questionnaire and reading anxiety questionnaire. Then, for self-efficacy’s questionnaire, the researcher adapts from MSLQ (2015). And for reading anxiety, the research adapts from Leblanc (2015) and Wu (2011). The result of the study shown that there is correlation between self-efficacy and reading anxiety with the coefficient correlation is 0.037 which means very low correlation with significance value is 0.624 which is larger than 0.05. It means that the correlation is not significant. Then, there is a correlation between reading anxiety and reading comprehension because the significance value is 0.299 with coefficient correlation 0.078. It means that the correlation is very low and the correlation is not significant because the significant value is larger than 0.05. And there is a very low correlation between selfefficacy and reading comprehension, because the significance value is 0,020 and coefficient correlation 0.174. The correlation is significant because it is greater than 0.05 and it means that Ha is accepted.
