Abstract
This study aims to investigate representations of sexual harassment victims in Tempo.co, The Jakarta Post, and Antara as English-based Indonesian online news agencies representative and also to investigate the underlying ideology behind the representation. This study is a qualitative study that uses critical discourse analysis method. Fairclough's three-dimensional framework of critical discourse analysis including description, interpretation, and explanation, is used. Furthermore, for analyzing the linguistic properties, Halliday's systemic functional grammar is applied in terms of transitivity process to get the ideational meta-functions of the news reports. From the transitivity processes, all of English-based Indonesian Online News Agencies mostly represent sexual harassment victims positively. However, there can be found that all of online news agencies still represent victim as powerless object towards perpetrator’s actions. Moreover, there are misjudgment to the victim that is presented by The Jakarta Post and misrepresentation that is represented by Tempo.co and Antara English. This shows that, realized or not, English-based Indonesian online news agencies still contain patriarchal culture in their news reports.
