Abstract

Understanding about translation was very important when we talked about foreign language. To acquire the skill in translation from the source language into the target language the students need to study some linguistic theories related to translation. The researcher was interested to the English-Indonesian translation when he got the translation subject on his lacture. From this experience, he found many inappropiate theories were used by students in translating from the source language to the target language. This research was conducted to know the prepositional adjustment that was used in English- Indonesian translation by the sixth semester students of STAIN Kediri. This research was conducted in STAIN Kediri. During the process of the research, there were some methods that were used to gain the data like test, and interview. The subject of this research was the sixth semester students of STAIN Kediri who take translation lecture. The data which has collected from the students was analyzed by some procedures: data checking, scoring and score calibration. The result of the research was showed by percentage and analyzing that majority of students understood translating prepositional adjusment in English-Indonesian language. Knowing the theories of translating delivered students got appropiate translation to the target language. On the contrary, the target language was difficult to be understood from the students who did not understand of translating theories.
