Abstract

A problem in learning speaking is an exist thing which occurs on English students in every single school. This research explained about analysis the students’ problems in speaking at Seventh Grade Students of MTsN 6 Kediri. The aim of this research was to find out thestudent’s problem in speaking and causes of the students speaking problems. This research was conducted MTsN 6 Kediri. This research used qualitative research method. The study was design in descriptive qualitative. The researcher chose VII E class as subject which consists 38 students. The purpose of this study was to find out students peoblems in speaking. In collecting the data, the researcher used observation, interview and questionnaire. The researcher used three major phases of the data analysis, they were; data reduction, data display and conclusion. The result of this study that the researcher found the students’ problem in speaking at seventh grade students of MTsN 6 Kediri as follows: first, Fear of mistake because students afraid attempt to speak English they must take time to tried speak English well. Second was shyness that students afraid to said the wrong things. Third,lack of confiedence students was not confident because if they spelled wrong other students laughed, The researcher also found the problems were lack of vocabulary that students had reading not much made them had lack of vocabulary, lack in pronounciation students did not know how to pronoun word correctly when they made mistake they had repeated but they stiil wrong also students prefered used their own language (mother-tounge) Indonesian and Javanese and poor in grammar students had did not know how put word properly because speaking was spontaneous had made students confused used grammar. The causes of students’ problems in speaking skill were two factors they were knowledge factor they were lack of knowledge of the language and lack of practice interactive speaking itself. Skill factor the students knowledge was so sufficiently automated to ensure fluency. As a result, such a lack of confident which inhibit fluency and low of motivation had researcher found.
