Abstract

Studying English as a foreign language can be done formally in schools and informally in informal institutions such as English courses in Kampung Inggris. Kampung Inggris in Pare – Kediri, East Java has gained a name nationally as a place to learn English. Many students from schools to universities pursue additional English lesson in Kampung Inggris. However, there seems to be limited number of research that investigated the impacts of taking English courses’ in Kampung Inggris towards students’ language skills. Therefore the researcher is interest to conduct this study study to answer the question: how do students perceive the impacts of studying at Kampung Inggris Pare course toward their speaking skills ? This research uses quantitative descriptive with survey design, the data were collected through online survey via google form. The survey instrumet used was questionnaire close-ended. The research subject is students of Dynamic English Course by purposive sampling. There were 50 respondents who involved and have filled in the data up to the predetermined time limit. After collecting the data, the reseracher analyzed the ordinal data to find out the percentage of the students’ perception on the impacts studying at kampung inggris Pare toward their speaking skill. The result presented that kampung Inggris Pare could influence students’ at Dynamic English Course toward speaking skills. Pare gave good impacts for students’. It was proven all statement have high score are agree and strongly agree on their perception of the program/method, motivation and components of speaking skills and overall speaking skills. Thus, this research has one main discussions which is students’ perception on the impacts of Kampung Inggris Pare course toward their speaking skills because speaking skill also relates to the other language skill, which is why language students should take this skill seriously because this will beneficial for their skills. Based on the result of this research the researcher also give some suggestion which are hopefully useful for English teacher, students, and the next researcher.
